Date Shake


Ok, so Palm Springs and Date Shakes are like my favourite things in the world. From covering our house and yard in cacti, to recycling old retro (unwanted) pieces for my new desert style office, I am all about Palm Springs right now. I am lucky enough to have visited this beautiful part of the world and one of my fondest memories of the California Desert, is beautiful fresh dates. We visited the Shields Date Farm, learnt all about their sex life, and then, sat in the shade of a date palm and consumed ice cold date smoothies the size of our bodies.

So now, in my cactus garden, I do the same thing. 



Date Shake
Makes 2 Glasses
  • 6 fresh dates, pitted
  • 500ml full cream milk
  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • Handful of ice
  • Fresh nutmeg
  1. So easy, place the dates and about 50mls of warm water in a liquidizer or blender, blend well until a nice smooth paste. Once smooth you can chill or even freeze the paste.
  2. When you are ready to go, add the milk, ice cream and ice. Blend until smooth, thick and creamy.
  3. Pour into a glass and grate a bit of fresh nutmeg over the top. YUM!
