Last year my sister and I took America. We did a massive 5 week road trip across 3 states and Mexico, we had the time of our lives!
LA was a place that we initially liked, then hated and then LOVED! As we did spend nearly 2 of our 5 weeks in the City of Angels we often miss its dirty glamour and feel if we were to go back, there would almost be a feeling of coming home.
A Hollywood habit that we haven’t yet let go of is, iced tea. Here in Australia you think of a sickly sweet amber liquid out of a servo fridge but the real American iced tea is generally unsweetened (possibly the only American food or beverage which doesn’t exceed your daily intake of sugar in one sitting) and it is generally sipped from a clear plastic cup while strolling the streets just being fabulous.
Makes 2 Litres
3 tea bags, you can use whatever tea you like, black or green works best
1/4 cup sugar
Optional to serve: mint leaves, lemon slices and cucumber slices
In a large tea pot or saucepan pour half a litre of boiling water over the teabags and leave to steep for 10 minutes. Remove bags, add sugar and dissolve. Pour into a large glass serving jug. Add 1.5 litres of iced water into the jug and mix well. Add a couple of handfuls of ice, mint leaves, lemon and cucumber and serve icy cold.
